Orthoses for the Ankle & Foot
At Carevale, we understand that improper alignment, nerve damage, or neurological conditions can limit your ability to walk and move around due to instability or improper placement of the foot and ankle. This can increase the risk of falls and the risk of further injury to your back, hip, and knees over time.

To address these issues, we offer a wide range of foot and ankle braces that create stability, improve walking, and help you stay mobile. Our braces can range from simple, rigid structures positioned around the ankle that restrict movement and aid in healing from a sprain, to more complex solutions that are customized to support weakness or improper alignment due to conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy.

Our team of orthotists will work closely with your therapists, doctors, and medical team to select, design, and build the right brace for your specific needs, ensuring that you receive the most effective solution to improve your mobility and quality of life.

Knee Orthoses
The knee joint is a complex mechanism that enables smooth and coordinated movement during physical activities, and even minor injuries to the knee can cause pain and limit mobility. If not treated properly, improper movement may result in more severe damage and require more extensive treatment.

We offer a range of knee orthoses that can help support, align, stabilize, or immobilize the knee following injury or in the management of chronic knee conditions. Our team of experts is available to help you find the right solution that meets your specific needs.

Knee Orthoses: These are designed to alleviate areas of osteoarthritis or enhance knee joint stability due to ligament injury, postoperative reconstruction, meniscus damage, and for preventative protection.

Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses (KAFOs): These are designed to provide support, proper joint alignment of the knee, foot, and ankle, assist or substitute for muscle weakness, and protect the foot and lower limb.

Hip Orthoses

Carevale provides hip orthosis to stabilize, limit motion or support healing after hip surgery or hip disorder. Hip disorders can cause pain and discomfort, impacting thigh movement and your ability to support your body weight. Common hip disorders include chronic hip instability, developmental dysplasia, and Perthes disease.

Hip orthoses consist of a hip/pelvic girdle, thigh cuff, and hip joint with adjustable joints that enable some degree of movement. This alignment positions the femur’s head in the hip socket, allowing the surrounding muscles, bones, and ligaments to heal. Our clinical experts, in collaboration with your orthopedic surgeon, will choose and fit the proper hip brace to best suit your individual needs.

Spinal Orthoses
Carevale offers spinal orthoses, including neck and back braces, to stabilize and support areas of the body from the jaw to the lower back, such as the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. These orthoses can be used to promote proper healing post-surgery, treat chronic diseases like arthritis, or injuries like whiplash.

Our team of spinal specialists across the country are dedicated to treating conditions such as scoliosis in children.

Uses of Spinal Orthoses
• Realignment of the Spine
• Immobilization of the Spine
• Support for Weakened Areas of the Spine
Upper Limb Orthoses
At Carevale, we offer a comprehensive range of orthoses for the shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist, and hand to meet a variety of needs, from ongoing stabilization to post-operative or post-injury immobilization.

Positional Supports
Our positional supports are designed to prevent unwanted contractures, maintain proper alignment, and control range of motion. These supports are often used in conjunction with physical or occupational therapy.

Soft Supports
Our soft supports are made from materials such as neoprene, canvas, and fabric, and may be reinforced with metal or plastic stays for additional support. They are ideal for enhancing stability or function, such as a brace worn while playing tennis to alleviate tennis elbow.

Fracture and Immobilization Orthoses
Our fracture and immobilization orthoses are commonly used to stabilize a joint following surgery or injury. The type of device required depends on the injury and its location. For fractures near a joint, it is typical to stabilize above and below the affected area to minimize motion at the fracture site.

Chest & Head Orthoses
At Carevale, we specialize in providing a range of orthotic devices and services to treat various conditions related to the chest and head. Our services include chest bracing, custom burn masks, protective helmets, and post-mastectomy care.

For individuals with pectus carinatum or abnormal shaping of the costal cartilage of the ribs, we offer chest orthoses that apply constant, moderate pressure to the affected area to help correct the condition. Our pectus orthoses, in conjunction with stretching and exercise, can be highly effective in treating this condition.

We also provide custom-molded burn masks that are designed to fit directly against the skin and apply direct pressure to the wound site, helping to prevent significant build-up of collagen fibers and reduce scarring. In addition to aiding in healing, our burn masks serve as a barrier from potential irritants while allowing for visual inspection of the wound site without mask removal. We offer a unique scar management material called Silon-STS® that combines pressure and silicone therapy to more significantly minimize and reduce scars and better prevent hypertrophic (raised) scars and keloids.

Lastly, we design, fit, and customize safety helmets to reduce the risk of injury or to protect the head following surgery. Our helmets are commonly used by athletes, individuals with special needs, and those recovering from an operation to facilitate healing and provide protection.
